There’s a great new web tool that the IRS has just released that will allow registration for economic impact payments for those who don’t normally file a tax return. This is a free service that was created for those who don’t need to file for various reasons as well as those who have too little of an income to file. Take a look at the link and specifically use the “Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info Here” to get started.

How to use the Non-Filers tool

The IRS website states that the process only takes a few minutes to complete. You will need information such as your Social Security Number, address and your dependents. The IRS will then be able to assess if you are eligible and then start the process of sending the funds out to you. You will not owe any taxes for the stimulus and they will directly send via direct deposit if enabled and mail it to you if not.

Am I eligible for the Non-Filers tool?

If you did not file taxes for 2018 or 2019 and you do not receive Social Security for retirement and disability you can file. We will take a look at some more specifics for those who qualify.

Income Amounts

If you are a single filer who has made under $12,200 or married who made less than $24,400 in 2019 you can file with the tool. If you haven’t filed in 2018 or 2019 and also have these limits you are eligible as well.

Veterans and SSI Recipients

The IRS is still taking a look to see if they want to separate the funding distribution between regular payouts and this stimulus check. For now, those who qualify for veteran’s disability compensation, survivor benefits or pensions who did not file for 2018 or 2019 can either fill the form out or wait to see what occurs in terms of receiving your economic impact payments.

Social Security and Other Beneficiaries

Those who have Social Security, SSDI and Railroad Retirement beneficiaries along with qualifying dependents will get the economic impact payment regardless. If you have children under the age of 17, you can use the tool to gain a $500 payment per child.

Students

If you are 17 and older but also can be claimed, you are not eligible for the stimulus check. If you are already claimed as a student above the age of 17, you are also not eligible.
