Who doesn’t love a good McDonald’s run? A lot of our Brigit members hit Mickey D’s on the regular. But let’s be real: those awesome fries (and everything else) can add up fast. (The average Brigit member who goes to McDonald’s spends over $50 there each month!) Here are some ways to save at McDonald’s on your next fast food fix.

1. Mobile app magic

Download the McDonald’s app and take advantage of exclusive deals and offers. You can often find discounts on your favorite menu items, free fries, or free drinks!

2. Meal deals and combos

Meal deals and combos are a great way to save money. You’ll usually get a better overall deal when you bundle your food together. And they’re pre-portioned, so you’re less likely to eat more than you should (this is not exactly health food, y’know!).

3. Dollar menu

The Dollar Menu is a classic for a reason. While the selection is kinda limited, there are still a lot of classics on it, so you can find appealing and affordable options.

4. Happy hour

Many McDonald’s locations offer Happy Hour deals. No, there are no cocktails, but you can get deals on sodas, snacks, and sometimes even sandwiches. Check your local stores for specific times and offers.

5. DIY meal

If you’re feeling adventurous, try creating your own meal. You can mix and match items from the Dollar Menu or choose smaller portions of your favorite dishes.

6. Share with a friend

Grab a friend and share your meal. Not only will you save at McDonald’s, but you’ll also have someone to chat with while you eat.

7. Coupons and promotions

Keep an eye out for coupons and promotions. You can usually find them in newspapers (if you still read a newspaper), magazines, or online.

8. Skip the extras

Avoid adding extra toppings, sauces, or sides that can add to your cost. Stick to the basics and save some cash.

9. Keep track of those portion sizes

It’s easy to overeat at McDonald’s. (Supersize much?) Be careful of portion sizes—try to eat only as much as you need to feel satisfied. It’s a good idea to not Supersize anything to keep things affordable. (And also a little healthier!)

10. Plan ahead

Before you head to McDonald’s, decide what you want to order and stick to your plan. This will help you avoid ordering things you didn’t plan on, so you can save money.
